Model Forests: An Approach to Implementing Social Forestry Internationally

Model Forests occupy the space between local communities and governments/decision makers. As such, they offer an approach to implementing broader social forestry values such as sustainable economic development, benefits sharing and biodiversity conservation within a defined framework. In June, the RMFN-Asia was invited to participate in the ASEAN Social Forestry Network Conference in Lao PDR to share information about the Model Forest approach to sustainability.
